WE LEFT LAS VEGAS WITH THE DREAM OF OWNING A FARM
We didn't know it then, but all of our dreams were about to come true, dreams we didn't even know we had! After looking and looking for the better part of 2 years, we stumbled upon the most beautiful Midwest farmette.
I'm Michelle, half of the team at Lucky Break Acres. My husband, Anthony, and I settled on this charming 5 acre property with an 1830's era farmhouse in Elkhorn, Wisconsin in 2014.

Anthony grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and spent a lot of time at his grandmother's house in Salem, Wisconsin. When he retired, after 24 years as a police officer, he was ready to return to his Midwest roots. He imagined dropping a line in the water from his own fishing boat, catching some live games of his beloved Cubs and even looked forward to shoveling snow.

I am an interior designer by trade, but now refer to myself as a "farmgirl-in-training". Inspired by an episode of the Fabulous Beekman Boys, (remember that show?) the harder and harder I worked, the more I fantasized about owning a small farm. My escape from work became researching all things farm related.

Once I got up the nerve to finally share my farm fantasy with Anthony, he was on board and we started making plans. Our original intent when we moved to this farm was merely to live a completely different life.
We never really intended on "farming" anything, but were excited at the opportunity to live on some land with a few animals and a small garden.
But once we brought Patsy & Loretta home (our first two Black Angus heifers, named after the first ladies of country music) farm life started to look a little different. I think they gave us a bit of courage. Then we began to try a few other things...
What started as simple curiosity has turned into a quaint farm product business. We've ventured into beekeeping, growing cut flowers, keeping chickens and selling our grass-fed Wagyu beef.

Now with a few years on the farm under our belt, we are ready to take on even more new adventures. While I'm always hoping that might include miniature donkeys, goats and rabbits (I have a lot of animal hoarding dreams), it probably more realistically includes events on the farm - yoga, brunches, dinners, workshops, parties and more!
